2019 Annual Meeting set for Bangor, Portland locations

PATFA invites you to join part-time faculty members from around Maine at the 2019 Annual Meeting – at two locations on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

We will gather in Portland and Bangor for a 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. meeting using video conference technology. A free lunch will be provided at both locations.

The Part-time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA) represents the 2,000 adjunct faculty members at the seven universities of the University of Maine System. All adjuncts are welcome and are invited to this meeting, although only PATFA members may vote.

Workers' Memorial Day - Observed Friday April 26 in Hartford, Bushnell Park

Every year more people are killed at work than in wars.  Most don’t die of mystery ailments, or in tragic “accidents”. They die because an employer decided their safety just wasn’t that important a priority. Workers’ Memorial Day  commemorates those workers.  Workers’ Memorial Day is held on 28 April every year, all over the world workers and their representatives conduct events, demonstrations, vigils and a whole host of other activities to mark the day.

Lesson Plan Settlement Agreement Signed

Dear Members,

I am pleased to announce that today CTA and the District signed a settlement agreement concerning lesson plans.

To summarize the settlement, teachers will not be required to use Curriculum Resource Materials (CRMs),  lesson plan templates or to complete team lesson plans. Teachers do not have to prepare common boards or use team lesson plans.

Negotiations Update

Since the College closed for Covid 19, your Negotiating Team has been meeting with the College on a regular basis via Zoom as we continue to strive for a fair and equitable contract.
 
Our last session was conducted on May 14th, and our next session which was scheduled for May 28th was cancelled by the College. We will update this message as soon as another session is sceduled.
 
While we do our best to bring you a tentative agreement as soon as possible, please know that we appreciate your patience and support.
