BCFPE Union Day, July 14
BCFPE Union Day: Thursday July 14, 2016, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Baltimore County Office Building, 111 W. Chesapeake Ave., Towson, MD, Patapsco Room #301. Lunch will be provided.
All districts must fulfill Highly Qualified Teacher, CCIP equity planning requirements
The elimination of federal requirements around "highly qualified" designations does not impact the state's rule that teachers in core subjects continue to meet the "highly qualified" requirement.

Honorees at the RC 23 Spring Luncheon
The 2016 NYSUT Community Volunteer Award was presented to Don Seubert of Sachem for his continuing volunteer efforts in the Medford community on June 6th at the RC23 Spring Luncheon.
DFT on Gov. Snyder’s Decision to Appeal Teacher Pay Ruling
DETROIT—Statement by Ivy Bailey, interim president of the Detroit Federation of Teachers, on Gov. Rick Snyder’s decision to appeal Court of Appeals ruling on teacher pay:
“When an attorney general refuses to assist a governor in an appeal, you know something’s wrong. Gov. Snyder refuses to return money taken illegally from school employees without any guarantee they would receive retirement health benefits. Some school employees are owed thousands of dollars—no small amount of money. Add this to the list of Snyder’s disrespectful actions, insults and attacks against educators. It’s unconscionable that he would waste taxpayers’ money defending an unconstitutional law.”
