Top Step Payments

A&R is working to identify and correct the wide-ranging issues with the Top Step Payments which appear to be miscalculated or missed entirely at many agencies.  Several agencies have acknowledged the issues and will notify employees of the error and will (hopefully) have it corrected in time for the next paycheck.  A&R has filed an institutional grievance and OLR will issue a General Notice to correct the problems.  To understand if your Top Step Payment was correct, we have put the correct amount and the incorrect amount side-by-side on the same sheet...if your payment amount is in

2019 AFTCT Legislative Conference

AFTCT hosts an annual conference for planning and discussion of key public policy issues that AFT Connecticut  will pursue in the General Assembly's 2019 legislative session.  This is a good opportunity to meet with our State Legislators in a group setting to discuss topics that will be in front of the Senate and House during the session.

Vacation Overpayment Notices

A number of A&R members have received letters informing them that they were allegedly granted too many vacation accruals.  If you have received such a letter, please fill out the on-line form so we can track and communicate with all impacted members.

Please do not agree to any repayment plan without discussing the issue with your union representative.

WHAT'S NEW: Detroit Federation of Teachers Stands in Solidarity with United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA)

On Monday, January 14 we are encouraging all members to stand in solidarity with United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) as they walk the picket line by wearing red -- #RedForEd. Our brothers and sisters in UTLA are striking for smaller class sizes and smaller case loads; more counselors, more nurses, and other key personnel to help support students; and fair and competitive wages. UTLA members work hard and are battling against a millionaire superintendent who doesn't understand the needs of public schools, the students and educators.

RA Meeting Date, Convention, & Scholarships

The A&R Representative Assembly meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (all active members are invited to attend), however, for February 2019, the 2nd Tuesday happens to be a holiday (Lincoln's Birthday), so the meeting has been moved to Tuesday February 5, 2019.

As a reminder, our 36th A&R Annual Convention will be held on Thursday April 25, 2019.

This convention is open to all active members and will be held at the A&R Office, 805 Brook St, Rocky Hill.

Registration starts at 4:30pm with dinner provided.
A&R Scholarships will be awarded at 5:30.
The Convention meeting starts at 6:00pm (doors close and no entry after 6:00pm).

Elections to our Representative Assembly will be held from April 4-April 24.  Balloting will be electronic as it has been for the past 8 years and all active members will receive a "Convention Call" via mail during the second week of February.

Also, A&R Scholarship recipients will be announced prior to the start of the Convention.  The A&R Scholarship form will be available in February, so if you are interested in seeking a scholarship, be on the look-out for the form in early February.  The AFT-CT scholarship forms should also be available soon and we will post those forms when they become available as well
